Course Focus: This course supports Year 11 students in developing precise control over the application of forms, features, and conventions required in senior English. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, cohesion, and controlled sophistication in written responses. Course Content: Approximately 60% essay writing, 20% creative writing, and 20% assessment support. Skills Developed: - Applying the correct forms, features, and conventions of academic and imaginative writing - Responding accurately to task requirements and genre expectations - Writing with clarity, cohesion, and logical progression of ideas - Refining expression to achieve sophistication without unnecessary complexity - Maintaining a consistent and appropriate academic tone - Weekly homework is assigned to reinforce accuracy, fluency, and structural control. Additional Information: While the writing skills align with the NSW English syllabus, course texts and examples may not directly reflect individual school programs. Outcome: Students demonstrate improved precision in applying writing conventions, stronger cohesion, and greater control over academic style. A review test is conducted to monitor termly progress.
