Course Focus: This course supports students who require further refinement of academic writing skills in preparation for senior-level expectations. Course Content: Approximately 60% essay writing, 20% creative writing, and 20% assessment support. Skills Developed: - Sustaining coherent lines of argument across multiple paragraphs - Writing purposeful, concept-driven topic sentences - Integrating textual evidence with clear explanation and relevance - Maintaining a controlled and formal academic tone across extended responses - Weekly homework is assigned to consolidate fluency and analytical control. Additional Information: While the writing skills align with the NSW English syllabus, course texts and themes may not directly reflect individual school programs. Outcome: Students demonstrate stronger paragraph cohesion, improved argument development, and increased readiness for senior English. A review test is conducted to assess termly progress.
