About

Course Focus: This course supports students transitioning into secondary-level writing by strengthening foundational structure, clarity, and organisation. Course Content: Approximately 60% essay writing, 20% creative writing, and 20% assessment support. Skills Developed: - Organising ideas into clear, structured paragraphs - Writing simple, focused topic sentences - Supporting ideas with relevant examples and basic textual evidence - Beginning the shift from informal or narrative expression to a more academic tone Weekly homework is assigned to reinforce skills introduced in class. Additional Information: - While the writing skills align with the NSW English syllabus, course texts and topics may not directly reflect individual school content. Outcome: Students develop increased confidence in paragraph structure, clearer expression of ideas, and improved awareness of academic tone. A review test is conducted to monitor termly progress.
