Course Focus: This course supports students who require consolidation of core secondary-level academic writing skills as they progress into more demanding analytical tasks. Course Content: Approximately 60% essay writing, 20% creative writing, and 20% assessment support. Skills Developed: - Organising ideas, points, and arguments into clear, logically sequenced paragraphs - Writing focused topic sentences that respond directly to task requirements - Developing explanations that move beyond description toward analysis - Adopting a consistent academic tone, shifting away from informal or narrative styles Weekly homework is assigned to reinforce skills covered in class. Additional Information: While the writing skills align with the NSW English syllabus, course texts and topics may not directly reflect individual school content. Outcome: Students develop improved control over paragraph structure, clarity of expression, and academic tone. A review test is conducted to monitor termly progress.
